Current research

Intan is working on a manuscript based on her doctoral dissertation at NYU, focusing on film, activism, and sexual politics in a period of democratization and Islamic resurgence in Indonesia. She analyzes how a new generation of Indonesian cultural producers redefines the nation through sexual politics, which manifest in film practices and activism that range from cultivating art communities to proposing a judicial review of the Film Law at the Constitutional Court.
